About the position

In this Evendale, OH-based role, you will provide comprehensive systems level support to the Large Military Engines Systems Team for developing new applications of our existing F110 engine family. This position also involves supporting GE Edison Works in the development of new advanced derivatives of our fielded engines. The unique nature of this role will provide you the opportunity to lead and work with GE's testing organization, developing an understanding of the requirements and skills needed to manage engine testing. You will work closely with the Program Systems teams and Customers to ensure consistency between the turbomachinery team and the advanced design teams. This includes ensuring that designers have the necessary inputs to complete their analyses, attending Program Tech Re meetings, and facilitating the flow of information between the Systems team and the turbomachinery design engineers. You will track turbomachinery efforts, driving design milestones for Detailed Design Reviews (DDR) and test assessments for the Turbomachinery. Additionally, you will present turbomachinery status and milestones to Systems and Customers, act as the Earned Value Management Cost Account Manager (EVM CAM) for the Turbomachinery, and drive Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and proposal input as necessary for program planning and management. You will also coordinate and lead engine testing for new engine technologies, working with instrumentation, testing, and performance organizations to prepare and run engine tests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive systems level support to Large Military Engines Systems Team for developing new applications of the F110 engine family.
  • Support GE Edison Works in the development of new advanced derivatives of fielded engines.
  • Work with Program Systems teams and Customers to maintain consistency between turbomachinery and advanced design teams.
  • Ensure designers have the necessary inputs to complete their analyses.
  • Attend Program Tech Re meetings and facilitate information exchange between Systems team and turbomachinery design engineers.
  • Track turbomachinery efforts and drive design milestones for Detailed Design Reviews (DDR).
  • Drive test assessments for the Turbomachinery and support testing as appropriate.
  • Present turbomachinery status and milestones to Systems and Customers.
  • Act as Earned Value Management Cost Account Manager (EVM CAM) for the Turbomachinery, collecting status, tracking spends, and reporting to Systems and the customer.
  • Drive Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and proposal input for program planning and management.
  • Collaborate with Legacy program Systems team and model leader to drive consistency across common product features.
  • Coordinate and lead engine testing for new engine technologies, working with instrumentation, testing, and performance organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, aerospace, systems, and/or test engineering positions, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a US Government Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design, testing, or systems engineering.
  • Experience in aviation propulsion system integration.
  • Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbomachinery systems integration or similar systems engineering role.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
  • Existing US Government Security Clearance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency.
  • Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment.
