About the position

JT4 is seeking an Embedded Software Developer to join their team in Pensacola, FL, primarily working within research and development engineering groups. This role encompasses a wide variety of tasks, with a focus on the design, development, and integration of software across multiple platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing system instrumentation, radar control, and data collection capabilities. Additionally, the position involves application and tool development to create system configurations, verify system performance, and ensure data quality. We are looking for developers who excel in both theoretical and practical domains, contributing to an iterative process that fosters innovative solutions to diverse software challenges. The Embedded Software Developer will engage in planning and overseeing research, design, development, production, testing, installation, integration, operation, and maintenance of software for electronic and mechanical systems. Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, performing a wide range of design, development, analysis, and evaluation tasks while adhering to established project deadlines. The role requires technical proficiency in embedded software, RTOS, VxWorks, C++, C, C#, UI/UX/GUI design, .NET, Visual Studio, WPF, Object Oriented Design, Linux, QNX, Git, and Subversion. A solid understanding of requirements definition, participatory design, usability engineering, and usability testing is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate software across various platforms.
  • Provide system instrumentation, radar control, and data collection capabilities.
  • Develop applications and tools for system configurations and performance verification.
  • Ensure data quality and system performance through rigorous testing and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with team members and work independently on software development tasks.
  • Plan and oversee research, design, development, production, testing, installation, and integration of software systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Must be a US citizen and qualify for a government security clearance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Technical proficiency in embedded software, RTOS, VxWorks, C++, C, C#, UI/UX/GUI design, .NET, Visual Studio, WPF, Object Oriented Design, Linux, QNX, Git, and Subversion.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with usability engineering and usability testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of military systems and applications.
