About the position
The Peer Support Specialist III at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care provides culturally competent and consumer-friendly services to individuals seeking support through the Call Center. Responsibilities
- Provides customer-friendly services, engaging individuals in an empathic manner.
- Develops and maintains peer-to-peer relationships to identify emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral changes.
- Promptly responds to all service requests via telephone, chat, and text.
- Utilizes personal experiences to connect and establish rapport with individuals served.
- Responds professionally to referrals, inquiries, and contacts with outside agencies.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years of active duty service or 30 days in a combat zone, or four years in the National Guard.
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer for recording services and basic office functions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in behavioral health or peer support services.
