About the position
The Sample Inspector at Nucor Yamato Steel plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of steel products during the rolling process. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability while working in a dynamic environment that includes operating heavy machinery and handling hot steel. The role requires a commitment to safety and teamwork, as well as the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Safely maintain a quality product through the rolling process.
- Execute the division's safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives.
- Change rolls in mill stands and operate crane and/or mobile equipment.
- Operate mill equipment, including QST equipment, and ensure proper record retention.
- Demonstrate and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- 1 year of rolling mill and/or finishing experience.
- Proactive initiative in seeking out work and responsibilities.
- Reliability and accountability in fulfilling obligations.
- Leadership presence to address production process issues directly.
- Attention to detail in task completion and meeting expectations.
- Ability to work as part of a team to achieve common goals.
- Effective communication skills to convey information clearly.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management.
- Ability to operate and monitor equipment and processes.
