About the position
The Sample Inspector at Nucor plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of steel products during the rolling process. This position is integral to meeting the company's safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives, while also contributing to a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Safely maintain a quality product through the rolling process.
- Execute safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives.
- Change rolls in mill stands and operate crane and/or mobile equipment.
- Operate mill equipment including QST equipment and ensure record retention.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, vacation coverage, and holidays.
Requirements
- 1 year of rolling mill and/or finishing experience.
- Proactive initiative in seeking out work and responsibilities.
- Accountability and dependability in fulfilling obligations.
- Leadership presence and courage to address production process issues directly.
- Attention to detail in accomplishing tasks and meeting expectations.
- Teamwork skills to work effectively with others towards common goals.
- Strong communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management.
- Ability to operate equipment and monitor processes to ensure proper functioning.
