About the position
Hummingbird Scientific is expanding its precision machine shop's manufacturing capabilities and is seeking a skilled Mill-Turn CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility, collaborating with designers, assemblers, and inspectors involved in our microscopy product manufacturing and production efforts. Unlike traditional machining roles that often involve repetitive tasks, our machinists focus on programming and prototyping, handling short runs of 5 to 10 parts rather than large production runs. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about precision machining and are looking for a dynamic work environment where their skills can shine. As a Mill-Turn CNC Machinist/Programmer, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, programming using CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, and ensuring the quality of the machined parts through the use of inspection tools. Your expertise in CNC Mill and Turn operations, along with your strong interpersonal and communication skills, will be essential in contributing to the success of our manufacturing team. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Mill-Turn machines.
- Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software, preferably Mastercam.
- Conduct inspections of machined parts using tools such as video CMM or probe CMM.
- Collaborate with designers and assemblers to ensure product specifications are met.
- Participate in prototyping and short-run production efforts.
Requirements
- Journeyman-level machinist skills.
- 5+ years of professional experience in CNC machining, preferably in turning.
- CNC Mill and Turn experience.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM programming (Mastercam or equivalent).
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
