About the position

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, communication, and coordination of internal teams to ensure the successful execution and completion of large-scale woodworking projects. This role requires specialized expertise in maintaining quality standards and effective problem-solving skills, while also managing relationships with clients, vendors, and team members. The position emphasizes a structured work environment with clear expectations and a focus on technical communication and organizational relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Project Management team by completing all assigned tasks
  • Assists Site Coordinator when needed to obtain field dimensions
  • Responsible for timely submittals required by the specifications
  • Assists in the management of work orders, collection of submittals, and field dimensions
  • Has overall managerial responsibilities for all assigned projects from award/handoff to completion
  • Consults with clients, vendors, and designers to clarify project requirements and design discrepancies
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and customers
  • Collaborates with customers on schedule, job flow, and activity durations
  • Determines milestone and target dates for information and activities, and communicates these to customers
  • Manages customer expectations
  • Works closely with Drafting & Engineering team to develop accurate shop drawings
  • Plans for long lead time material items and extended production timelines
  • Responsible for obtaining all field dimensions or coordinating data collection
  • Releases project information by required dates for timely product delivery
  • Ensures project information is accurately interpreted for production
  • Plans and communicates product shipments for installation efficiency
  • Ensures job sites are ready and installation flows efficiently
  • Foresees and communicates job site issues
  • Maintains or improves project budgets for materials and labor
  • Finds ways to increase efficiency, productivity, and throughput
  • Communicates effectively with other managers to improve workflows

Requirements

  • Two-year degree or higher from a technical school, college, or university
  • 2 or more years' experience within the woodworking, manufacturing, or construction industry
  • Prior experience in the construction and/or woodworking industry preferred
  • High level of proficiency in Project Management software, Drawings software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software, Email & Calendar software, and Internet software

  • Strong business knowledge of the construction and/or woodworking industry
