About the position

The Millwork Drafter position involves creating precise CAD drawings and designs for architectural accessories and millwork. The role requires collaboration with engineers and architects to translate hand sketches and verbal instructions into detailed plans, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards. The drafter will also be responsible for organizing project documentation and maintaining an efficient workflow within the design team.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Design plans using CADD software, including Microvellum.
  • Assist in product design with engineering and manufacturing techniques.
  • Add details to architectural plans based on building techniques knowledge.
  • Prepare multiple design versions for review by engineers and architects.
  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products.
  • Design diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow.
  • Identify operational issues and redesign products for improved functionality.
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
  • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations, and material requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, design consultants, and subcontractors to produce and alter drawings.
  • Support the project team creatively and critically in the design process.
  • Create and update project drawing lists.
  • Print various formats of drawing sets for project managers and site superintendents.
  • Organize and save sketches and drawings on the server, keeping it updated.
  • Review and check sketches and drawings for errors before distribution.
  • Seek clarity from engineers and project managers when uncertain.
  • Upload drawings to web-based storage and collaboration sites.
  • Create, edit, and update design standards.
  • Identify potential quality, material savings, and design cost issues.
  • Operate necessary software including AutoCAD, Microvellum, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the millwork industry preferred.
  • Experience in Millwork/Cabinetmaking and 3D Rendering/Modeling is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of math proficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and internet search engines.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Valid Florida Driver License with a clean driving record and proof of insurance.
