About the position

The Mine Operations Intern position at Holcim for Summer 2025 offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the aggregates industry. This 10-week paid internship, starting on May 27th, 2025, is designed for individuals passionate about sustainability and eager to learn and develop within a high-performance culture. Interns will work at the Golden, CO site and will have the chance to travel to local aggregate sites, engaging in various operational activities and collaborating with different departments.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at Aggregate sites.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify process correlations and contribute to ongoing project strategies.
  • Gain hands-on experience with daily mine operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
  • Learn about the maintenance and operation of heavy mining equipment alongside operators.
  • Collaborate with departments such as geology, engineering, and safety to understand full operations.
  • Communicate and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations to achieve team and company goals.
  • Present learnings and contributions to the executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Mine Engineering or a similar field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience.
