This position is designed to optimize nutrition support for all athletes within the New York Yankees organization. The dietitian will assist in various aspects of nutrition, including affiliate catering, nutrition education, and ensuring that both departmental and organizational standards are met. The role is essential in maintaining the high standards associated with the Yankees' storied legacy, focusing on the health and performance of athletes through tailored nutrition strategies. In this position, the dietitian will provide individual nutrition counseling, which constitutes a significant portion of the role. This includes counseling athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery, weight management, hydration, immunity, travel, and supplementation. Active participation in workouts, practices, and games is required to provide real-time nutrition support and education, ensuring athletes are fueled for peak performance. Another key responsibility involves food service and menu development. The dietitian will arrange catering for pre- and post-game meals, ensuring that food safety and sanitation procedures are adhered to at all affiliate facilities. They will also develop meal plan templates for spring training and other instructional programs, maintaining high food quality standards and gathering player satisfaction feedback throughout the season. Nutrition education is also a vital component of this role. The dietitian will develop and deliver presentations and demonstrations on nutrition topics relevant to athletic performance, catering to both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. They will educate athletes on food selection and preparation, oversee the inventory of fueling stations, and serve as a nutrition resource for coaches and sports performance staff. Professional development and mentoring are encouraged, with the dietitian expected to maintain their dietetic registration and stay updated on current nutrition research. They will also assist in mentoring nutrition interns and collaborating with various departments to ensure the best quality service for players.
