About the position

The MIS Database Analyst is responsible for overseeing, managing, and maintaining the database systems used by the IST MIS division for the City of Laredo. This role involves monitoring and tracking incoming requests for data integration, managing application support, and providing management with activity reports. The analyst will also handle database security, custom programming, and lead the MIS team in database administration and operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the integrity of IBM Power Systems Platform data.
• Develop, coordinate, and implement development solutions for City departments.
• Maintain communication with departments and vendors regarding data projects.
• Manage IBM system database security and application security.
• Lead the MIS team in managing database systems interfacing with government applications.
• Administer database operations and upgrades, ensuring compatibility with multiple database models.
• Manage IBM Database Platform systems and associated application interfaces.
• Develop, process, and review data content from various systems.
• Provide senior level database support to all City departments and MIS staff.

Requirements

• Knowledge of database management and business concepts.
• Experience in programming and query development.
• Project management skills and knowledge of operational workflows.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong communication skills in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
