About the position

As a Miscellaneous Steel Drafter / Detailer at Distinctive Iron, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the design and fabrication of structural steel components. Your primary responsibility will be to produce detailed drawings and plans for various miscellaneous steel components, including stairs, handrails, ladders, and other non-standard structural elements. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of structural design principles to ensure that all drawings meet project specifications and industry standards. In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to interpret design specifications accurately. Your ability to communicate effectively will be essential as you address questions, revisions, and other project-related matters with team members and clients. You will utilize industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Tekla Structures to create precise 2D and 3D models of steel structures, ensuring compliance with project requirements and building codes. Additionally, you will play a key role in the continuous improvement of detailing processes and standards within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed drawings and plans for miscellaneous steel components such as stairs, handrails, ladders, and other non-standard structural elements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to interpret design specifications and ensure accuracy in the detail process.
  • Utilize industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Tekla Structures to create precise 2D and 3D models of steel structures.
  • Review and check drawings for compliance with project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to address questions, revisions, and other project-related matters.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of detailing processes and standards within the organization.

Requirements

  • 2-Year Technical degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing, with a focus on miscellaneous steel components
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Tekla Structures software
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, building codes, and industry standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and precise drawings
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
