About the position

As a Mission Software Engineer on the Vehicle Autonomy team at Anduril Industries, you will play a crucial role in developing core robotics technologies that enable advanced military capabilities. This position focuses on solving complex problems related to networking, autonomy, systems integration, and robotics, ensuring that Anduril's products work seamlessly together. You will be expected to adopt a pragmatic engineering approach, delivering high-quality software solutions that have a real-world impact while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with high-performance backend technologies like C++/Rust/Golang, and software product lifecycle technologies like NixOS/CircleCI/Docker.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy real-time, map-based user interfaces for displaying and interacting with sensor data and controlling Altius aircraft.
  • Help define foundational software architectures, visual designs, and user experience workflows for Altius.
  • Test and evaluate software using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.
  • Collaborate with engineers using full stack technologies like Java/Kotlin/Android, C++/Qt, and C#/.NET.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics/Physics, or similar.
  • At least 3+ years of C++ experience.
  • Strong systems engineering background with knowledge of microservice ecosystems.
  • Experience building software solutions involving significant data processing and analysis.
  • Ability to understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Desire to work on critical software with real-world impact.
  • U.S. Person status required for access to export controlled data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with the DoD in safety-critical environments.
  • Experience in a startup or small company with tight deadlines and open-ended requirements.
  • Proficiency with modern Web frontend programming languages including HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React Framework.
  • Experience with 3D geospatial analysis and mapping software such as ArcGIS, Cesium, MapBox, or TAK.
  • Experience programming with Golang, Rust, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Experience developing user interface software with local/offline functionality.
  • Exposure to technologies related to Altius such as fixed-wing flight mechanics and UAV control.
  • Exposure to aviation, such as hobbyist RC piloting or holding a Private Pilot License.
