About the position

The Mission Systems Engineer role at Lockheed Martin Space focuses on supporting spacecraft operations and production through the development of operational software products and CONOP (Concept of Operations) development. This position requires collaboration across multiple teams to ensure efficient and effective operational systems, while also becoming a domain expert in spacecraft subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new spacecraft command sequence products, design, code, test, and install products.
• Maintain existing products utilizing a proprietary programming language.
• Develop and update operational CONOPs, serving as the primary interface between operations and certified principal engineers.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver and maintain operational systems, seeking efficiencies and automation-based solutions.
• Prepare for and execute the initialization of new spacecraft assets.
• Support the team through reviews, testing, and backup support of products and CONOPs.

Requirements

• Experience with Windows and LINUX operating environments.
• Ability to effectively communicate with peers and customers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience or knowledge of spacecraft operations.
• Proven experience working on technical teams.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, time-management, and self-motivation skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to constantly changing requirements and situations.
• Experience in assessing risk and prioritizing tasks with general direction.
• Programming experience.
