About the position

The Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub Public Program and Outreach Liaison, a grant-funded position at the Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at USM, will lead and execute a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy for the Digital Humanities Hub. This role involves creating and disseminating promotional materials, establishing partnerships with Mississippi institutions, organizing and participating in CDH events, developing innovative strategies to increase public awareness and engagement, crafting compelling content, managing social media, planning and executing workshops and conferences, building partnerships, overseeing budgets, monitoring sub-grant partnerships, and adhering to university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive statewide marketing and outreach strategies to increase public and academic awareness of and engagement with the Digital Humanities Hub.
  • Develop and implement compelling content strategies for the Digital Humanities Hub website and other digital platforms, including SEO optimization and content marketing best practices.
  • Maintain CDH and Digital Humanities Hub social media by developing and executing sophisticated social media campaigns to increase brand visibility and engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact public outreach programs, including workshops, statewide mini-grants, and conferences.
  • Represent the Digital Hub by arranging and conducting workshop and grant recruiting visits at potential partner institutions throughout Mississippi as well as at conferences and other external events, building key relationships with stakeholders.
  • Monitor sub-grant partnerships along with the Digital Hub's primary investigator to facilitate communication, compliance with sub-grant procedures, and optimization of resources.
  • Develop and manage the budget for outreach activities, ensuring efficient and effective allocation of resources.
  • Adhere to CDH and university policies, procedures, and regulations and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Humanities, Communications, or a related field is required.
  • Five years of experience working in a public-facing position.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting for tracking the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
  • Access to reliable personal transportation for grant-reimbursed travel within Mississippi.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with digital humanities projects and tools, and/or evidence of a willingness to learn about digital humanities tools.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating public programs.
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
