About the position

The Mixer Driver position at American Rock Products involves operating a concrete mixer truck to deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites. Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues.
  • Assist with operations in Othello and Quincy.
  • Operate ready-mix concrete truck to deliver to construction sites safely and efficiently, following dispatch instructions.
  • Add materials (fiber, color, or other additives) to concrete mix as needed.
  • Ensure quality of product delivered, including monitoring slump and other specifications.
  • Maintain communication with Dispatcher regarding deliveries and check delivery tickets for special instructions.
  • Ensure proper materials are loaded safely and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Rinse out drum and chutes, and dump slurry as required by established procedures.
  • Collect money from customers and record transactions on customer receipt.
  • Inform customers of new products or services and resolve service complaints.
  • Respond to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete construction techniques.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle and perform minor field repairs as needed.
  • Record sales and delivery information and maintain operator logs in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations.
  • Complete written reports of problems or necessary repairs and communicate with maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and communicate any flaws in material promptly.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Current Class A or B CDL with self-certification of non-excepted interstate and current DOT medical card.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and controlled substance testing.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other employees.
  • Ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and all other company or state rules and regulations.
  • Good internal and external customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Good performance, safety, attendance, and punctuality record.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of general driving experience in a commercial or construction setting highly preferred.
