About the position

The Graphic Designer II at Melaleuca is responsible for visually communicating the company's key messages and ensuring compliance with brand guidelines. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in graphic design, with specialized skills in print production, publication design, and project management. The designer must demonstrate advanced competencies in typography, layout, photo selection, and editing, while also assisting in training less experienced coworkers. The position emphasizes strategic thinking, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Visually communicates the key messages of the company, its brands, and products.
  • Produces work in compliance with existing brand guidelines and guides others with that expertise.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of typographic principles.
  • Collaborates with writers, photographers, and the design team.
  • Manages projects and time effectively.
  • Presents work to the Associate Creative Director and Creative Director.
  • Understands prepress work and printing processes, troubleshooting print-ready files as needed.
  • Takes ownership of projects and demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning in design.
  • Maintains sharp attention to detail and troubleshoots technical issues with files and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed, including working overtime.

Requirements

  • Three to six years of experience as a designer, demonstrating strengths in branding and marketing.
  • Strong design portfolio that exhibits a passion for high-quality graphic design and an understanding of marketing and branding communications.
  • Portfolio work that demonstrates critical thinking skills, both creatively and strategically.
  • Formal education in graphic design recommended.
  • Competency and experience with the Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • 30 wpm typing speed.
  • Detailed work and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and professionally.
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills and meets deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals in person and by phone.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Manual dexterity for tasks such as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Graphic Arts preferred.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.
