About the position

Join Essentia Health as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) where you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients. This position involves performing and reporting laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. You will participate in quality assurance and control, and may also engage in research and education activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report tests of all complexity levels on patients of all ages.
• Assist with routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring.
• Conduct instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Exhibit problem-solving skills in laboratory settings.
• Process specimens and perform phlebotomy as required.
• Interpret and correlate test results with disease states.

Requirements

• Graduate of an associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent qualifications.
• For MLS, a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT (ASCP) certified with additional clinical laboratory experience is required.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or equivalent is required within one year of hire for MLT.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) is required within one year of hire for MLS.
• Current license or provisional license through the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice within 45 days of hire.
