The position requires demonstrating adequate knowledge of the hospital, laboratory, and referral facilities computer systems. Proficiency in patient specimen collection and test order functions is essential, along with correct venipuncture, capillary, urine, and drug screen collection techniques. The role involves collecting all specimens efficiently and timely, performing instrument maintenance and/or quality control (testing and documentation as necessary), and complying with all applicable laboratory safety policies and procedures. The candidate will need to function in all areas of the laboratory, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Immunology. Additionally, handling non-technical, phlebotomy, and clerical duties as needed is part of the job.
