About the position

The Mobile Building Engineer position at CBRE involves maintaining and repairing various systems in multiple Home Depot retail locations. Technicians are part of a regional team responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective maintenance practices. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn across various trades.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with store managers and staff
  • Seek out and write work orders for any problem in the store, in scope or not
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on challenges
  • Show a sense of urgency in addressing store repairs
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend changes
  • Participate in the On Call Rotation every four weeks for all stores within a 2 hour radius
  • Conduct minor repairs across a variety of trades including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, doors and locks, light carpentry, and concrete
  • Work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
  • Flex schedules to support after-hours repairs
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders
  • Effectively communicate repair status, parts orders, and next steps in work order comments
  • Communicate with Supervisor/Facility Coordinator about work priority and schedule
  • Research and order parts
  • Submit accurate expense reports and timesheets
  • Research technical questions using an online database
  • Proficiently use applications on mobile phone and tablet devices
  • Travel up to 20 percent for disaster recovery and complex repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year maintenance experience for technicians
  • 5 years maintenance experience for engineers
  • HVAC - EPA certification for engineers
  • Proficient in using iPhone and iPad
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful situations and deescalate issues
  • Customer service mindset
  • Self-starter with time management skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
