About the position

The Mobile Crisis Certified Peer Support Specialist at Porter-Starke Services is a full-time role focused on providing crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. This position involves engaging with clients in various settings, including their homes and the community, to assess their needs, provide therapeutic communication, and connect them with appropriate resources. The specialist will work as part of a Mobile Crisis Team, demonstrating knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and maintaining confidentiality while fostering trust with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required assessments and screenings, including the Columbia Suicide Rating Scale (CSSRS).
  • Engage individuals in the crisis planning process and complete safety plans.
  • Build rapport to support increased engagement and care coordination.
  • Follow up with individuals in-person, via phone, or telehealth within two days of the initial crisis intervention.
  • Provide warm hand-offs to identified resource needs such as insurance navigation, housing, and benefits.
  • Refer clients to medication management and monitor medication compliance.
  • Act as an informant and advocate for clients regarding their rights and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with management staff, co-workers, and peers.
  • Participate in team staffing to provide client and peer insight.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to increase patient engagement in treatment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CAPRCI) or Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) certification upon employment.
  • Individuals must be in recovery for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Valid Indiana Driver's license and personal auto insurance.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
