The specialist will engage with consumers in the community, assist in de-escalation, and ensure safety during transport and interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis.
• Utilize personal recovery experience to assist consumers in their recovery journey.
• Transport consumers safely in an agency vehicle, adhering to all safety standards.
• Engage in community outreach to connect with individuals in need of support.
• Maintain all required licenses and certifications for the role.
• Practice physical intervention techniques as necessary for consumer safety.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Self-identification as having experience with recovery from mental illness or substance use disorder.
• Willingness to share lived experience with consumers.
• Strong dedication to recovery principles.
• Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to physically manage and de-escalate consumers/residents.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in Peer Support is preferred but not required.
• Experience in community outreach or crisis intervention.
