About the position

The Mobile Crisis Specialist II plays a crucial role in providing immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. This position involves on-call responsibilities, mobile assessments, and collaboration with crisis team members to ensure effective intervention and resource coordination. The specialist will work in various locations, conducting both telephone and face-to-face assessments, and will be integral in developing safety plans and connecting individuals to necessary services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides needed on-call/mobile coverage determined by their work schedule.
  • Available for consultation to members of the mobile crisis team when support is requested.
  • Receives calls from ACI Crisis Line or Crisis Services Leadership and conducts telephone or face to face assessments when requested.
  • Communicates with other Crisis Team staff members when backup is needed and accesses other necessary community or ACI resources when appropriate.
  • Assesses for risk and coordinates the individual's needs during crises, facilitating access to appropriate crisis services.
  • Assists with coordinating hospitalization for individuals when appropriate or connects them with other resources.
  • Completes safety plans with individuals as necessary.
  • Works with area law enforcement and emergency medical personnel to benefit individuals and their families.
  • Maintains good communication with both internal programs and external community partners to provide access and/or referrals to services as needed.
  • Documents properly and timely to ensure compliance and/or reporting to DMH, BBH, and other concerned entities.
  • Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Attends scheduled conference calls, webinars, face-to-face meetings/trainings, and individual and group supervision.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a behavioral health or related field, or one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health field.
  • Knowledge and skills in assessing, triaging, and treating suicidality; crisis intervention; effective oral and written communication skills; problem solving/decision making/clinical judgment; time management; computer/electronic medical record knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and establish effective relationships via telephone and face-to-face contacts.
  • Adaptability to perform effectively in the face of changing job demands.
  • Initiative to take necessary and appropriate action on one's own.
  • CPR/First aid and CPI certified.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in behavioral health field beyond the minimum requirement.
  • Familiarity with the involuntary commitment process.
  • Experience working with law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.
