About the position

The Mobile Crisis Specialist Level II position at University Health is responsible for providing mobile and onsite mental health crisis services. This role involves delivering crisis intervention services to clients, aiming to reduce hospitalization needs and divert individuals from the justice system. The specialist will work as part of a mobile crisis team and engage with clients in various settings, including the Emergency Department and other clinics within the University Health system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mobile and onsite mental health crisis services.
  • Deliver crisis mental health intervention services to clients.
  • Work as part of the mobile crisis team to assist clients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Aim to reduce the need for hospitalization and divert clients from the justice system.
  • Assist with other diversion activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related human service field.
  • 1 - 2 years' experience working in a social services role.
  • Expert level knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of mental illness.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of human services at the Master's level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multicultural staff and clientele.
  • Trained in crisis intervention.
  • Knowledgeable about the local system of care, including community providers and civil commitment procedures.
