About the position

The Mobile Crisis Specialist PRN at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center is a crucial role within the Mobile Response Team (MRT), responsible for providing immediate behavioral health crisis services to individuals in Douglas County, Kansas. This position operates on a PRN basis, offering flexible hours to meet the community's needs, particularly during high-acuity situations. The specialist will work collaboratively with team members to deliver solution-focused interventions aimed at reducing hospitalization and diverting individuals from the justice system. The role emphasizes compassion, integrity, and recovery-oriented approaches in crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis situations within 45 minutes of contact.
• Aid in access to recommended services such as inpatient hospitalization and outpatient therapy.
• Collaborate with BNC MRT colleagues and other providers to coordinate appropriate services.
• Meet and comply with all administrative and clinical documentation requirements.
• Attend and actively participate in program staffing and clinical supervision once a month during shifts.
• Provide input to supervisors regarding clinical or program issues.
• Coordinate services between agencies or multidisciplinary providers on behalf of the client.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in a social services role.
• Knowledge of community mental health services and crisis intervention models.
• Ability to provide screening, brief intervention, and referral to services for substance use disorders.
• Must be located in Douglas County for the entirety of the shift.
