About the position

Peraton is seeking a Mobile Cybersecurity Research Engineer to join our team in Silver Spring, MD. This position is integral to our mission of delivering innovative solutions and revolutionary capabilities to address complex challenges faced by government agencies, utilities, and commercial customers. As a part of Peraton Labs, you will be involved in cybersecurity research that protects mission-critical systems and national cyber infrastructure through a variety of initiatives, including computer network defense, secure-by-design techniques, and cyber operations experimentation platforms. The role requires a deep understanding of mobile operating systems, particularly Android and iOS, as well as expertise in reverse engineering and program analysis. You will be responsible for developing and deploying solutions for mobile applications and operating systems, ensuring their security and resilience against cyber threats. Your work will involve identifying vulnerabilities, remediating them, and contributing to the development of emerging embedded cyber capabilities. You will also engage in resilient networking and software-defined networking to support cyber mission goals, leveraging artificial intelligence techniques such as reasoning, probabilistic inference, and machine learning. This position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous learning in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. You will collaborate with a team of experts with a rich heritage in cybersecurity, drawing from the legacy of Bell Labs, Bellcore, and Telcordia. Your contributions will play a crucial role in safeguarding our nation and allies from traditional and nontraditional threats across all domains: land, sea, space, air, and cyberspace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy solutions for Android and iOS applications and operating systems.
  • Conduct program analysis, including vulnerability identification and remediation.
  • Perform malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Support resilient networking initiatives in alignment with cyber mission goals.
  • Implement software-defined networking for cyber defense and deception.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence techniques for reasoning, probabilistic inference, and machine learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with a BS/BA; 10 years with an MS/MA; or 7 years with a Ph.D.
  • Experience in developing and deploying Android and iOS applications and operating systems.
  • Expertise in reverse engineering and mobile internals (Android and iOS).
  • Proficiency in system programming languages such as C, C++, Go, Rust, etc.
  • Strong expertise in Python programming.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and testing software modules for embedded cyber capabilities.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices and toolsets (Git, Subversion, CI/CD toolchains).
  • Experience running Docker containers and developing in Linux.
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying updated with industry developments.
  • Adept at independent problem-solving and taking initiative.
