About the position

The Mobile Dental Assistant position at 360care involves providing dental care assistance in long-term care facilities. This role is crucial in supporting physicians and ensuring that patients receive high-quality dental care. The Mobile Dental Assistant will be responsible for maintaining clinical records and charts through electronic medical records, as well as the care and cleaning of medical equipment. The position requires a commitment to patient care, adherence to safety and health regulations, and effective communication with patients and healthcare providers. In this role, the Mobile Dental Assistant will assist the dentist with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner. This includes reviewing, verifying, and maintaining accurate clinical records and medical histories, ensuring the integrity of all documentation, and updating patient odontograms for every encounter. The assistant will efficiently manage the treatment area, ensuring that instruments and supplies are readily available for the dentist, and will provide daily feedback to optimize the dental schedule and reporting. The position also involves balancing and generating daily production reports, accurately posting dental charges, and maintaining the dental supplies inventory. The Mobile Dental Assistant will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring that all dental equipment is functioning properly. Additionally, the assistant will educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. This role requires travel up to 100% of the time, making reliable transportation essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Review, verify, and maintain current and accurate clinical records, charts, and medical history through electronic medical records.
  • Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
  • Update patient odontogram for every patient encounter.
  • Efficiently pass instruments and supplies to the dentist for appropriate care being rendered.
  • Maintain the treatment area by evacuation, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating properly.
  • Provide daily feedback and work in conjunction with branch office to optimize dental schedule and reporting.
  • Efficiently manage patient flow of facility visit and may push wheelchair.
  • Balance and generate daily production reports and provide to dentist upon departure.
  • Accurately post the dental charges to the appropriate provider in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for all care and cleaning of medical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report to proper resources.
  • Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
  • Responsible for clean-up of service area used in facility.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior appearance, and perform basic support tasks like routine oil changes and refueling.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by auditing stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed supplies; place and expedite orders for supplies.
  • Manage resources by preparing supplies with minimum waste or need for duplication.
  • Ensure all dental equipment is working properly by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Assist dentist diagnosis by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
  • Assist with education of patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
  • Ensure a positive experience for our patients.
  • Follow all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with all patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide timely responses to patient inquiries; document conversations in the EMR.
  • Actively support and comply with all components of the compliance program, including completion of training and reporting of suspected violations of law and Company policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information; abide by HIPAA and PHI guidelines at all times.
  • React positively to change and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED.
  • Medical / Dental Assistant experience preferred.
  • Must have own reliable transportation, good driving record, and car insurance.
  • Must have completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.
  • Must have state radiation license or certificate.
  • Must have good computer skills and medical terminology experience.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to follow directions and listen to needs of patients and doctors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a dental office setting.
  • Knowledge of dental software and electronic medical records.
