About the position

Planning Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Android Developer to join our team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining high-quality applications for Android devices, ensuring a seamless user experience for our customers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Android development, with a deep understanding of Java and Kotlin, and a proven track record of building large-scale mobile applications with a significant user base. As a Mobile Developer, you will lead the maintenance and expansion of our flagship Android products. You will design and build new features from start to finish, refine existing ones, and keep things running smoothly. Ensuring the security of our customers' data is paramount, and you will turn feature ideas into solid technical plans and implement them with small, well-tested GitHub pull requests. Mentoring and collaborating with your designer and developer teammates will be a key part of your role, as will diving into code reviews to ensure we're all learning and producing top-notch code. You will also be responsible for getting your code ready for builds and releases on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, continuously improving our tools for automated application build and release, and staying updated with the latest Android features to enhance our apps. Investigating and fixing bugs reported by our support team will be part of your daily tasks, utilizing tools like Firebase Crashlytics and Android Studio to diagnose and resolve errors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to join in on book and code clubs to keep growing and learning together, working closely with a friendly, collaborative development team to reach our goals and deliver fantastic products.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of publishing and maintaining large-scale Android apps with a big user base
  • Expert-level skills in Java and Kotlin
  • Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and other Android frameworks
  • Strong grasp of mobile architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
  • Experience working closely with a collaborative team
  • Willingness to travel four times a year to connect with the team
  • You must reside and be eligible to work in the United States
