About the position

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II at Cox Automotive is responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light mechanical repairs on various types of vehicles in a mobile field environment. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently while managing a service truck and parts inventory. The technician will also engage with clients to assess their needs and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, and more.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functionality.
• Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck.
• Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and inspections.
• Document work performed and findings using company-issued devices and applications.
• Communicate with management and support teams regarding repair estimates and findings.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field, or 5 years' experience in a related field.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
• Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
