About the position

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II is responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, and light mechanical repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently while managing a daily schedule. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining the company-issued service vehicle and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, and more.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functionality.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess their needs and resolve issues.
  • Document work performed and findings according to company standards using a company-issued iOS device.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field, or 5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
