About the position

The Mobile Diesel Technician II at Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, and light mechanical repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently while managing a service truck and parts inventory. The technician will also engage with clients to assess their needs and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, and more.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functionality.
• Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck.
• Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Document work performed and findings according to company standards using an iOS device and proprietary applications.
• Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss findings.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in a related field.
• Valid driver's license and DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one within 72 hours of hire.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
