About the position

The Mobile Health Dental Director plays a vital role in enhancing access to dental care for underserved communities through the University of Minnesota's Mobile Health Initiative. This part-time position combines clinical practice, educational leadership, and grant writing to ensure high-quality dental services are delivered in a mobile health setting. The director will oversee dental services, mentor students, and collaborate with healthcare providers to improve health outcomes for diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive delivery of dental services in a mobile health setting.
  • Act as the Mobile Health Initiative's liaison to the School of Dentistry to ensure compliance with school policies.
  • Provide direct dental care, including examinations, preventive services, and treatments.
  • Develop and deliver educational activities to promote oral health awareness among students and communities.
  • Mentor and train staff, students, and volunteers in clinical best practices.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Document care delivery using REDCap and recruit volunteer dental faculty and students.
  • Identify funding opportunities and manage grant applications to support mobile dental health initiatives.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current state dental license or faculty license.
  • Proven skills in clinical practice, patient education, and team leadership.
  • Commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health dentistry or community health settings.
  • Previous experience as a dental educator.
