About the position
The Mobile Mechanic at J.R. Simplot Company is responsible for performing mechanical tasks on the internal fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure maximum equipment efficiency. The Mobile Mechanic will work independently and collaboratively with plant personnel to achieve shared objectives while adhering to safety and operational procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform general and specific preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
- Use diagnostic equipment and procedures to maintain and repair mobile equipment.
- Participate as part of a team or independently in identifying and solving problems.
- Follow all safety and operating procedures.
- Dismantle, adjust, and repair equipment according to maintenance specifications.
- Manage work time effectively and respond to production maintenance requests.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education/certification in Diesel Mechanics.
- 5+ years of related experience and/or training in diesel equipment maintenance.
- Formal training in Diesel Mechanics through an accredited program.
- Proficiency as a qualified diesel-automotive mechanic, demonstrated by passing a competency evaluation.
- 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with auxiliary equipment such as compressors and hydraulic cranes.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Ability to read and understand procedure documents, drawings, and process diagrams.
