About the position

The Entry Mobile Repair Technician role involves conducting inspections and performing repairs on railcars to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. This position requires hands-on work under the supervision of experienced technicians, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining accurate documentation of work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Perform necessary repairs using current repair procedures.
  • Meet customer expectations to deliver an exceptional experience.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
  • Participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
  • Complete required on-board training regarding safety and quality.
  • Work under the supervision of a Career Mobile Technician or higher.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices.
  • May participate in safety committees or initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Any type of welding/valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge.
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record.
  • Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to pass required NDT disciplines and function-specific certifications.
  • Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights.
  • Ability to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
  • May be required to obtain specialized qualifications and training.
