About the position

The Mobile Response Team Clinician at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center plays a crucial role in providing immediate support to individuals experiencing psychiatric crises. This full-time position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective mental health interventions and crisis management throughout Douglas County. The clinician will engage in proactive outreach, crisis counseling, and coordination of care, ensuring that clients receive the necessary services in a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with MRT teammates to provide professional responses to individuals experiencing psychiatric or personal crises.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to prevent mental health crises and reduce criminal justice recidivism.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, EMS, and community partners to ensure safe care for clients.
  • Provide crisis counseling and clinical assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate referrals and service delivery among community agencies and hospitals.
  • Conduct assessments for Mental Health Reform, Juvenile Justice Center, and Douglas County Jail as needed.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork associated with screenings and assessments in a timely manner.
  • Testify in court when involuntary hospitalization is required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a human services field with appropriate Kansas licensing (LMSW, LSCSW, LMLP, LPC, LCPC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and clinical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote a positive team dynamic.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for public service and advocacy for clients' best interests.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or substance abuse issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to react effectively in various human service situations.
