About the position

This position is for an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in RF acoustic wave filters at Skyworks in Irvine. The role involves working within a team of RF professionals to develop technology for next-generation cellular handsets and wireless communication devices. The primary focus will be on designing acoustic filters, including SAW and BAW technology, for RF front-end modules, ensuring high performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Design acoustic wave filters for integration into RF modules, meeting performance, size, and cost requirements.
• Follow best engineering practices to ensure reliability and high production yield.
• Drive new architectures and ideas to improve filter and module performance.
• Conduct design reviews and present quantitative data to demonstrate compliance with specifications.
• Work closely with module and systems teams to set performance criteria for filters.
• Interact with technology and fabrication teams for continuous performance improvements.

Requirements

• MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or BS with 2 years of job experience.
• Understanding of RF fundamentals such as impedance matching, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability.
• Prior experience in EM simulation of RF systems.
• Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS/Cadence and 2.5/3D EM tools such as Momentum or HFSS.
• Hands-on experience in problem solving and lab debugging from prototype to mass production.
