About the position

The Mobile Retail Systems Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership in mobile technologies and supporting new business initiatives. This role involves driving the mobile and web technology roadmap, defining application architecture, establishing technology standards, evaluating new technologies, and fostering mobile innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver points of view on key mobile industry topics and be recognized as a subject matter expert.
• Define, document, and execute mobile and web best practices and industry standards.
• Mentor and develop the technology team in web and mobile technologies.
• Interface regularly with IT partners and vendors to manage project delivery and ensure alignment with business needs.
• Represent the business strategy on cross-functional teams for current and future initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends in web and mobile technologies, particularly in the quick service restaurant sector.
• Track developments in key areas such as operating systems and technology hardware.
• Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and service levels for the company and its franchisees.
• Ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulations related to data security in design and development activities.
• Assist the Department Manager with departmental goals, budgets, and performance measurement.
• Lead cross-functional teams to achieve common project goals.
• Work with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical architecture.
• Oversee the execution of the technical strategy post-client approval.
• Participate in project initiation and planning by gathering technical requirements and providing input on activities and timing.
• Report project status to the Project Lead as necessary.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed with quality, on time, and within budget.
• Provide input for post-project evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in IT or business.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive, relevant IT experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of development, system design, and implementation experience on mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, etc.).
• Experience with mobile frameworks such as PhoneGap and Appcelerator.
• Familiarity with mobile product development, including mobile web and native applications.
• Knowledge of mobile device management frameworks and mobile security best practices.
• Experience with mobile authentication standards and mobile analytics.
• Experience working with eCommerce platforms like ATG, Hybris, or OLO is highly desired.
• Understanding of services architectures (REST, JSON, etc.).
• Experience implementing systems and processes in a restaurant or retail environment.
• Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills and ability to build technical requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with mobile web using standard and responsive design techniques.
• Practical experience in building technical requirements for non-technical customers.
