About the position

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world, is seeking an experienced Mobile/Web Developer (.Net) for its Delta Master Executive Council (MEC) Office in Atlanta. This role is crucial as it supports over 16,500 pilots flying for Delta Airlines. The Mobile/Web Developer will be responsible for gathering user requirements, performing systems design and analysis, and developing and testing web applications and other application/database integrations. The complexity of these projects requires a deep understanding of corporate technical architecture standards and strategy, ensuring that all developments align with the Association's goals. In this position, the developer will collaborate closely with Web Architects, Web Developers, Data Analysts, and other technology specialists to implement projects and strategies effectively. The role involves researching, identifying, and recommending design and technology infrastructure alternatives, as well as assisting in the design of new alternatives when appropriate. The developer will also provide input to management regarding technology direction and technical problems, ensuring consistent use of technical architecture standards and assisting with complex problem resolution efforts. The Mobile/Web Developer will be responsible for developing IT project plans and program development for database and web/mobile projects. They will evaluate current and future IT technologies for possible deployment throughout the Association. This position requires working with business knowledge experts, Association leadership, and data analysts to define the vision of ALPA's data store and translate reporting requirements into physical database repositories. Compliance with departmental, MEC, and Association development, application, and data policies and procedures is essential, as is collaboration with colleagues in other departments. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and skilled in delivering solutions that meet the needs of the client/customer base while aligning with the MEC's and Association's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Gather user requirements and perform systems design and analysis.
  • Develop and test web applications and application/database integrations.
  • Collaborate with Web Architects, Web Developers, Data Analysts, and other technology specialists.

  • Ensure compliance with departmental, MEC, and Association development, application, and data policies and procedures.
  • Advise management regarding changes to standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Web Applications, or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Master's degree or completion of post-graduate courses in a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of related experience required; five or more strongly preferred.
  • Expertise with DNN, Coveo, .Net MVC, C#, SQL Server, and Tableau preferred.
  • Expertise with systems analysis, design, and requirements gathering.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft .Net Framework.
  • Proficiency in web markup, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; client-side scripting; and jQuery.
  • Experience using CMS, advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, preprocessing platforms, version control, cross-browser compatibility/development, and RESTful Services and APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with Visual Studio SSIS and the development of ETL and data wrangling processes is a plus.
  • Experience defining data structures and data integration practices for business intelligence uses is a plus.
  • Experience using automation and web performance tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of image authoring tools for basic image adjustments is required.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle DB and Python is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with all levels of contacts, internal and external.
  • Must be a self-starter with professional maturity and sound judgment, capable of independent decision-making.
  • Exceptional time management skills; able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; and transition easily between projects.
