About the position

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world, is seeking an experienced Mobile/Web Developer for its McLean, Virginia office. This role involves gathering user requirements, performing systems design and analysis, and developing and testing complex Web and Mobile applications. The Mobile/Web Developer will play a crucial role in the lifecycle development process, ensuring that corporate technical architecture standards and strategies are integrated into the projects. Collaboration is key, as the developer will work closely with Architects, Developers, and other technology specialists, as well as various departments, to implement projects and strategies effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, identifying, and recommending design and technology infrastructure alternatives, assisting in their design when appropriate. They will ensure consistent adherence to technical architecture standards and assist in resolving complex problems. Routine responsibilities include thorough testing of mobile applications and websites to identify potential technical issues, as well as staying updated with advances in international Web/Mobile standards and protocols and their implications for the business environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate creativity and concentration while working collaboratively with stakeholders to solve problems. Responsibilities

  • Gather user requirements and perform systems design and analysis.
  • Develop and test complex Web and Mobile applications.
  • Provide input for the lifecycle development process.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Developers, and other technology specialists.
  • Research, identify, and recommend design and technology infrastructure alternatives.
  • Ensure consistent use of technical architecture standards.
  • Assist with complex problem resolution efforts.
  • Test mobile applications and websites to identify potential technical issues.
  • Stay updated with advances in international Web/Mobile standards and protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Web Applications, or related field from an accredited college or university required; master's degree preferred.
  • Four (4) years of .NET experience required; five (5) or more strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of .NET frameworks, Visual Studio, C#, and SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge of .NET mobile development and mobile application frameworks.
  • A sound understanding of application architecture for enterprise web apps and services.
  • Advanced knowledge/skills in UI/Frontend design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and other CSS frameworks.
  • Expertise with Web-based security and familiarity with authentication environments, particularly ADFS and IdentityServer.
  • Experience with ASP.NET, IIS development operations, client/server-side architecture, and .Net-based CMS systems preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with all levels of contacts.
  • Must be a self-starter with professional maturity and sound judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Blazor, .NET Maui, SignalR, and Java preferred.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, design, and working with systems analysts strongly preferred.
  • Some knowledge of ASP.NET Web Forms & other legacy development technologies preferred.
