About the position

The Mobility Technician at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital plays a crucial role in assisting therapists and therapy assistants in the preparation and treatment of patients receiving therapy services. This part-time position focuses on providing patient care, ensuring safety during patient transport, and maintaining a clean and organized workplace. The Mobility Technician is integral to the rehabilitation process, supporting patients in their journey to recovery and helping to restore hope and freedom through rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists and therapy assistants in preparation and treatment of patients receiving therapy services.
• Transport and transfer patients while observing safety precautions and good body mechanics.
• Apply therapeutic modalities as assigned by the therapist after competency testing.
• Carry out specific treatment activities under the direction/supervision of licensed clinicians.
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and provide feedback to therapists and therapy assistants.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workplace, including cleaning and maintaining equipment according to infection control policies.
• Organize and maintain patient chargeable equipment inventory.
• Assume patient care and clerical duties under therapist direction across all inpatient programs and/or disciplines.
• Function as a patient advocate and maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS Certification - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA Approved.
• Understanding of basic principles of human growth and development.
• Competent to interact with patients according to their special needs based on age.

• Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nursing Aide.
