About the position

The Model Elementary Long Term Substitute Teacher for 4th Grade at Goshen Community Schools is responsible for instructing students in various subjects while utilizing strong pedagogical skills. The role involves preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, maintaining classroom discipline, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to support student learning. This position is temporary, covering a specific period during the 2024-25 school year.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in subject matter using strong pedagogical skills.
• Prepare teaching outlines for the course of study and assign lessons.
• Administer tests to evaluate students' progress and record results.
• Maintain discipline in the classroom and during school activities.
• Utilize curriculum maps and district resources to prepare lessons.
• Discuss students' academic and behavior problems with parents and administrators.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and educational conferences.
• Maintain attendance and grade records.
• Supervise students in hallways, cafeteria, and other areas of the building.
• Collaborate with teaching colleagues and administrators on best practices.

Requirements

• Valid Indiana Substitute Permit or Teacher's License in the appropriate subject area and/or grade level(s).
• Effective or highly effective teacher status.
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient technology skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
• Self-driven and motivated with strong organizational skills.
• High energy and commitment to teaching.
• Ability to motivate students and solve problems effectively.
• Skilled in communicating with staff, students, and parents.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with differentiated instruction and IEP modifications.
• Familiarity with Indiana State Standards and curriculum planning.
