About the position

The Modeling & Analytics Engineer at INVISTA will focus on building and maintaining monitoring models to support asset reliability and production at the Houston Chemical Plant. This role involves utilizing data analysis techniques to detect anomalies and predict failures, thereby enabling proactive failure prevention. The engineer will also be responsible for continuous innovation and improvement of processes and systems within the Propylene Monitoring Team.

Responsibilities

• Build monitoring models to automatically detect process and asset anomalies, predict failures, and inform decision-making.
• Collaborate with reliability and process SMEs to prioritize monitoring opportunities and develop actionable models.
• Document model design and assumptions, incorporating lessons learned into model quality guidelines.
• Seek opportunities to apply advanced modeling techniques and collaborate with third parties for best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement of existing monitoring models in partnership with Monitoring Analyst.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with at least two years of process industry experience, or a High School Diploma with at least ten years of process or reliability experience.
• Experience with model deployment in platforms such as SEEQ, Prometheus APM, OSI PI Asset Framework in a chemical/refining environment.
• Highly organized and motivated to develop expertise in data analytics and share best practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Expertise in predictive data analytics, including applied AI analytics/machine learning, regression, and time series forecasting.
• Knowledge of asset reliability fundamentals, including rotating, fixed, electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems.
