About the position
The Moderate Needs Teacher at Red Hawk Ridge Elementary School is responsible for implementing effective teaching methods to ensure the success of students with moderate needs. This role involves developing and promoting positive relationships within the school community, as well as fostering an exemplary educational program that supports achievement for all students. The teacher will work collaboratively with students, parents, and faculty to create individualized education programs (IEPs) and align curriculum with Colorado Content Standards.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles, and educational research related to learners with special needs.
- Understand the scope and sequence of a special education curriculum.
- Exhibit strong classroom management, communication, organization, and planning skills.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Utilize both formal and informal diagnostic assessments for students with learning difficulties.
- Demonstrate knowledge in literacy and numeracy intervention programs.
- Administer and interpret standardized and informal special education assessments.
- Collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to solve problems.
- Participate in teaching teams to design curriculum and assessments.
- Manage cases with regular communication with parents and faculty.
- Align curriculum and assessments with Colorado Content Standards.
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs to positively impact achievement.
Requirements
- Hold a valid Colorado Teaching License.
- Proficiency in using technology.
- Endorsement in Moderate Needs, Special Education Generalist, or Special Education Specialist.
