About the position
The Modern Languages Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish during the evening for the Spring 2025 semester. Faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses as per the catalog description and approved syllabus, utilizing interactive approaches and technologies. The role requires a commitment to incorporating diverse lifestyles and cultures into the curriculum, maintaining accurate records, and participating in the assessment of learning outcomes. Faculty must also ensure the availability of necessary teaching materials and engage in out-of-class interactions with students.
Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
- Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
- Utilizes library resources, writing as an instructional method, and academic technologies in courses.
- Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate grade and attendance records and submits required reports.
- Submits grades by the published deadline.
- Participates in the assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
- Plans in advance for the availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
- Submits progress reports on students and discusses any issues with appropriate personnel.
- Adheres to College policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
- Some teaching experience is required.
- Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Certification or license as needed and appropriate.
