About the position

We are seeking a passionate Modern Technique/Contemporary Dance Instructor to join our team at New Beginnings Center for the Performing Arts. This part-time role involves teaching dance classes to students of various age groups and skill levels, developing lesson plans, and creating a positive learning environment that fosters creativity and technical excellence in modern dance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Teach dance classes to students of various age groups and skill levels
• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum
• Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills
• Manage classroom dynamics and ensure a positive learning environment
• Incorporate elements of early childhood education and childhood development into dance lessons
• Utilize behavior management techniques to address any challenges that may arise during classes
• Organize and direct practices and performances for school events and competitions
• Collaborate with school staff to support the overall well-being and academic success of students

Requirements

• 2 - 15 years of experience in teaching modern technique and contemporary dance
• Proven ability to teach and inspire students
• Extremely technical and well-versed in other genres of dance
• Trained and studied in modern techniques such as Horton, Graham, and Dunham
• High expectations for student performance and growth
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong classroom management skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in early childhood education or preschool settings
• Background in theater, tutoring, or childcare
