Modis is seeking a CISCO Network Engineer 3 for our client in Sacramento, CA. This position is a 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco ASA's, routers, and switches within a large enterprise environment. A key responsibility will be configuring site-to-site VPNs and other services on Cisco ASAs, as well as troubleshooting LAN, MAN, and WAN environments. Experience with Remedy is highly desired. The role involves designing and validating network solutions to meet business requirements by configuring and testing hardware, which includes procurement, testing, and installing network infrastructure hardware aligned with vendor technical guidelines and enterprise standards. The engineer will work closely with other network personnel to ensure proper configuration of network equipment for the environment. Effective communication with internal customers is essential to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions through project management. The engineer will continually seek opportunities to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships. They will interface with Network Architecture and Engineering to provide requirements for network engineering, implementation, and operations. Additionally, the engineer will provide direction for network infrastructure design and installation, install network equipment independently, and collaborate with the Facilities group to prepare environments for network infrastructure devices. Responsibilities also include performing security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments, as well as remaining technically current with new technologies through reading, seminars, workshops, and vendor information. The engineer will recommend the evolution of network systems to stay ahead of industry trends and future business requirements, participate in high-level design of infrastructure with experts from other groups, and engage in Enterprise standards meetings to discuss emerging technologies. The engineer will support the resolution of complex network issues, troubleshoot complex heterogeneous networks, and work with multiple teams to identify bottlenecks and other network configuration issues. They will effectively communicate complex technical solutions and recommendations to various non-technical audiences, develop and maintain network management strategies and methodologies, evaluate network management tools and techniques, and provide feedback to management. Finally, the engineer will review the performance and capacity of existing networks, maintain documentation of all changes to the production environment, and document and update network diagrams to reflect changes made to the production network in Visio drawings.
