About the position

CCP is a family-owned and run ISO9001 registered custom injection molder of thermoplastics with finishing and assembly capabilities. Located in Burlington, North Carolina, CCP offers complete engineering assistance and support, and provides a wide range of value-added secondary services. The Mold Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in the tooling department, responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of molds. This position requires a proactive approach to tooling needs and associated system tasks, including demand work requests and planned work tasks. The technician will keep management informed of the status of all planned, in-process, or completed work in a timely manner. The technician must possess the ability to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and maintain records for new tools and repairs. A safe and clean work area is essential, and the technician is expected to foster a professional atmosphere. Responsibilities include assisting in the repair of molds, fabricating ejector rods, prepping molds for shipment, completing insert changes, and setting up secondary equipment. The technician will also assist in the fabrication and maintenance of equipment, perform minor texture repairs, and grind ejector pins as needed. Continuous improvement is encouraged, and adherence to OSHA and safety regulations is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a Class A Tool Maker certification, experience with CAD, and a solid understanding of different types of steels used in molds. Experience with hydraulic, electrical systems related to molds, and various machine operations is also required. The role demands good attendance, judgment, and a desire to learn, along with the physical ability to lift and move weights as specified in the physical demands section.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned day-to-day tooling needs and associated system tasks, including demand work requests and planned work tasks.
  • Keep management informed of the status of all planned, in-process, or completed work in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, maintain tools, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Maintain and create records for new tools and repairs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area while fostering a professional atmosphere.
  • Assist in the repair of molds including manifolds, parting line repairs, and texture.
  • Fabricate ejector rods as needed.
  • Receive new molds, prep molds for shipment along with required documentation.
  • Complete insert changes as needed in the tooling area or the press as required.
  • Complete setup and adjustment of secondary equipment including sonic welder, bandsaw, screw insert machines, and heat stake machines.
  • Assist in the development of safety procedures.
  • Assist in the fabrication and maintenance of EOA's.
  • Assist in welding of mold components with the expectation of eventually mastering micro-welding.
  • Perform minor texture repairs with the expectation of eventually mastering texture repair.
  • Grind ejector pins and make small parts as needed.
  • Assist in the fabrication of secondary equipment.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement (ideas and suggestions).
  • Follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to established company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.

Requirements

  • Class A Tool Maker certification.
  • Experience with CAD.
  • Understanding of different types of steels and their use in molds.
  • Hydraulic, electrical (related to molds), and PLC experience.
  • Machine experience: mill, lathe, drill press, surface grinding, CNC, EDM.
  • Benchwork experience.
  • Transportation, license, and vehicle.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Demonstrated good judgment.
  • Desire to learn.

Nice-to-haves
