About the position

The Molecular Parasitology Intern at Boehringer Ingelheim will work closely with scientists and project teams to develop assays that support drug discovery efforts in veterinary parasitology. This role involves hands-on laboratory work utilizing molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques to explore parasite biology, contributing to innovative solutions for ongoing projects. The intern will gain exposure to various functions within the Research and Development department, enhancing their understanding of the drug discovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop molecular, cellular and biochemical assays to interrogate parasite biology
  • Participate in research team meetings to present and evaluate data
  • Work closely with scientists and project teams to prioritize assay development that provides solutions for ongoing projects
  • Contribute intellectual input into innovative drug discovery efforts for veterinary parasites

Requirements

  • Must be an advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with basic molecular biology laboratory skills
  • Willing to work with ectoparasites and/or insects
