About the position
The position involves assisting the bus driver in safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their well-being and managing their behavior during transit. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus, contributing to the overall mission of getting children to school safely.
Responsibilities
- Assist the driver in the safe operation of the route.
- Manage student behavior and communicate issues to the driver.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks and wheelchair lifts.
- Assist students during the loading and unloading process, including the use of wheelchair lifts.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with school personnel, parents, and students.
- Attend all safety and training meetings.
- Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including using the emergency door.
- Clean the interior of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
- Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work early morning hours.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers.
- Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for a business environment.
- Perform all job functions safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines and applicable laws.
- Ability to use or learn to use internet and office equipment.
