Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a dedicated and skilled Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary to join our team on the night shift. This full-time position is under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and is crucial for performing telemetry monitoring in our acute-care hospital. The Monitor Tech will be responsible for the continual surveillance of multiple patient monitors, ensuring that any significant arrhythmias or signs of patient distress are identified and addressed promptly. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to intervene appropriately when necessary, as well as the capability to identify and correct artifacts that may affect monitoring accuracy. In addition to monitoring, the Monitor Tech will report any abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in a patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff. This communication is vital for maintaining high standards of patient care and ensuring that all team members are informed of any critical changes. The position also involves testing equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and reporting any issues to the supervisor, thereby contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the healthcare environment. Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The role demands the ability to remain calm and respond quickly in stressful situations, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills. Physical requirements include the ability to handle and lift patients and equipment, with a full range of motion, manual dexterity, and the capacity to stand and walk for extended periods. The Monitor Tech may also be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling. Additionally, corrected vision and hearing to normal range are necessary, along with the ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
